Compensation for egg donation

Although our donors come from all walks of life, each has the same commitment, goals and values - to help others create life. Although many believe there is a payment for this kindness and incredible dedication to creating life, this isn’t the case. As it is illegal to pay someone for egg donation, egg donors are not paid but are compensated £750 per donation cycle.

Why are donors compensated?

Donors are compensated £750 per donation cycle. A donation cycle is one round of treatment which starts with suitability tests and ends with the collection of eggs, ready for donation. During this cycle, donors will naturally incur expenses, for which you will be compensated.

Time

Donors are compensated for time spent attending appointments such as initial tests, consultations, counselling, and egg collection.

Travel

Although we limit the amount of travel needed through our UK network of locations, donors may have to travel as part of their donation journey.

Childcare

Donors may have to arrange childcare in order to donate. If so, the compensation can cover the cost of childcare fees.

How does egg donor compensation work?

When you generously donate your eggs, we want to make sure you feel appreciated every step of the way. You'll receive £500 shortly after egg collection and another £250 three months later once you complete the post-quarantine blood. And to make things super convenient for you, we send the payment straight to your bank account via a quick and easy transfer.

If, for whatever reason, you need to pause your egg donation journey midway, we'll still make sure you're compensated fairly based on the number of clinic visits you've made. Your generosity means the world to us, and we want to ensure your experience is as smooth and rewarding as possible.

HFEA & egg donation

The Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA) is the UK’s independent regulator of fertility treatment and research using human embryos. It protects patients and donors by licensing, monitoring, and inspecting fertility clinics, like Egg Donors UK, by providing free, clear and impartial information about fertility treatment, clinics, and egg, sperm and embryo donation.

The HFEA ensures these facilities comply with both the Human Fertilisation and Embryology (HFE) Act 1990 and the HFE Act 2008.
