Did you know the most important part of egg donation happens in the very early stages, before you even start the donation process?
Counselling is mandatory for all egg donors, and is a vital aspect of your egg donation journey with us – because it’s how we ensure that you’re completely comfortable in your decision to donate before you proceed any further.
Our counselling team
Our friendly counsellors have many years of experience in supporting women considering egg donation. Knowledgeable about all aspects of egg donation, Helen Bohme, Gabrielle Goad or Sharon Rodden will talk you through all the potential implications of becoming an egg donor.
Your private session is in the strictest of confidence, so you can feel completely at ease. Although counselling is a crucial part of your egg donation journey, your counsellor does not share the details of your discussions with our clinical team.
What you’ll discuss
Having a counselling session may seem daunting, but it’s nothing to worry about. The purpose of counselling is simply to ensure that you understand what becoming an egg donor actually means.
It’s especially important as donor-conceived people have the right to find out who their egg donor is, if they wish to. Your counselling session typically covers:
Involving family, partner or friends
Becoming an egg donor is a decision you may wish to make with the support of your partner, close family or a friend.
It’s important to involve any person at this stage who might be affected by your donation not just now but in the future – such as your partner or parents, and how they might feel about you helping others to have a baby – so you can proceed fully supported and with confidence.
Supporting you every step of the way
Along with our counsellors, you’re also cared for throughout your donation journey by our dedicated Donation Team. The team ensures that your egg donation is a convenient and stress-free process, working with our clinic team and consultants to provide you with tailored support that recognises your individual needs.
Our high standards and excellence in donor care is why we were the first clinic in the UK to be awarded Centre of Excellence status by the National Gamete Donation Trust.
