Egg Donation: The right drugs protocol for you

Egg Donation

When you donate eggs, did you know that you actually undergo the same procedures as women who have IVF?

Egg donors and women undergoing IVF all have ovarian stimulation, followed by egg retrieval to collect the mature eggs. The only difference is that the eggs of the egg donor are donated to other women; whilst the eggs of the IVF patient are fertilised and transferred back into her own body.

What this means is that when you come to us to donate eggs, we carefully plan every stage of your donation, just as we do with patients having IVF treatment.

You are thoroughly screened, to ensure that you’re healthy enough to be an egg donor and are able to respond to ovarian stimulation. You’re given counselling by our expert team, so that we know you understand all the implications of egg donation, both now and in the future.

And your fertility drugs protocol is prepared to exact specifications, using your individual test results, so that you only have the most minimal amount of stimulation needed to produce mature eggs, minimising the risk of conditions such as Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome.

Your health and wellbeing is of paramount importance to us when you become a Manchester Fertility egg donor. You will not proceed as an egg donor if your test results show that you will likely respond poorly to stimulation, or if, after counselling, you’re unsure if egg donation is for you.

Egg donation should always be a considered and very well-informed decision. As the first clinic in the UK to be awarded National Gamete Donation Trust Centre of Excellence status, you can be reassured that we take care of all of our donors just as well as we do our patients.

Find out why so many women choose to donate eggs to us, through egg-sharing or altruistically. If you’re aged 18-35 and meet the egg donation criteria, you can apply online with no obligation, or text the word DONATE to 60066 to be sent the application form direct to your device.

If you’ve got any questions, you can contact our dedicated Donation Team on 0161 300 2730.
