How We Make Sure Your Donor Eggs Give the Best Chance of Pregnancy Success

Egg Donation

When you donate eggs to us at Manchester Donors, as the dedicated egg donation scheme of leading fertility clinic Manchester Fertility, you can be reassured that we do everything we can to make sure the eggs result in pregnancy for those who need them.

When you entrust your eggs to us to change lives, you can trust that we give our patients the highest chance of success through advanced treatment techniques, technologies and systems.

At Manchester Fertility success rates for treatment using donor eggs is amongst the highest in the UK, achieved through:

Strict egg donor criteria

Although many women apply to donate eggs with us, not all women can and should be egg donors. Egg donor wellbeing is our priority at Manchester Donors.

Factors such as a too high or too low BMI, or being a smoker, can make you unsuitable to be an egg donor because of the effect this has on fertility and your response to the fertility medications needed to donate eggs.

By only accepting women who meet the criteria, we can ensure our patients have the highest chance of success whilst also safeguarding egg donor health.

Advanced freezing methods

Donated eggs used in frozen treatment cycles are stored in our state-of-the-art laboratory, where even the air quality is monitored and tested.

Donated eggs are frozen using the very latest vitrification or ‘fast-freeze’ technique, which ensures very high survival rates for frozen donor eggs at Manchester Fertility.

Fertilisation technique

Donated eggs are either fertilised by traditional IVF – where donated eggs and sperm are mixed together – or a method known as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). This is where a single healthy sperm is injected directly into the egg to fertilise it, and it’s commonly used for treatment with donor eggs because of its good fertilisation rates.

Embryo selection expertise

For the highest chance of pregnancy using donor eggs, the best quality embryo must be chosen for transfer, a procedure that relies on the skill and dedication of our highly-trained Embryologists.

We combine traditional selection methods with advanced technologies including EmbryoScope and Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening, so only those embryos with the highest potential for pregnancy are ever selected for transfer.

We also use EmbryoGlue, which helps the embryo to adhere and implant successfully after transfer, with all patients continuing with fertility medications to support pregnancy.

Early pregnancy support

Our Fertility Midwife supports all patients including our donor eggs patients after transfer, up to pregnancy test and beyond. Providing reassurance, early pregnancy care and a smooth transition into NHS services, patients using donor eggs benefit from a complete journey at Manchester Fertility which also includes counselling, fertility diet and nutrition advice and acupuncture if needed.
