Meet Olivia – Manchester Donor’s Donor Programme Assistant

Egg Donation

Olivia is one of our friendly Donor Programme Assistants here at Manchester Donors. She is one of the first people you will meet when you choose to apply to become an egg donor.

Olivia is here to guide you through the donation process, answer any questions you have, and provide you with as much information as you need to ensure you feel comfortable and at ease with us to take the next step.

We sat down with Olivia to learn what being a Donor Programme Assistant involves, how she supports all our wonderful donors, and why she loves her job!

Tell us a bit about your job role for Manchester Donors?

A big part of being a Donor Programme Assistant is helping women who want to become egg donors. I am here to help you understand the egg donation process and what is involved from the very beginning. I also guide the incredible women who are on their donation journey with us, book appointments and offer ongoing support.

What support do you give our egg donors through their donation process?

I support donors from their initial enquiry up until their final blood tests after their donation. I am here to answer any questions or concerns you may have, big or small, as we want to ensure you feel fully informed and comfortable at every stage.

As a Donor Programme Assistant, what is the most rewarding part of your job?

My absolute favourite part of the job is providing our egg donors with positive donation outcomes if they would like to know. So, how many children have been born because of their donation! Hearing the excitement in someone’s voice when you tell her she has helped someone have a child is just the most amazing thing.

What advice would you give to someone who is looking to become an egg donor?

Researching egg donation can be overwhelming as, unfortunately, there is not enough education or knowledge around. But we want to reassure you we are always here to answer any questions you may have! No question is ever a silly question – the more questions you ask, the better.

There is no commitment when you first enquire about egg donation, and you can change your mind if you decide it is not right for you, so don’t let the idea of changing your mind put you off even looking into it!

For someone who is looking to donate, why should they choose Manchester Donors?

I work alongside an amazing, knowledgeable team dedicated to giving you the best possible experience throughout your donation. We ensure the highest standard of clinical donor care, from welcoming ladies to our comfortable and regulated clinic to providing donor-focused counselling with our team of experts, virtually from your own home.

We appreciate the time and commitment you take out of your daily lives to help another person. We want to get to know you as a person and we love to build strong relationships with our donors, some of whom donate more than once because of the care and attention we offer to each individual donor. This allows us to create the best treatment plan for you and match you with a recipient patient.

What would you like to say to the amazing women who have chosen to donate or are thinking about donating?

First of all, thank you for even taking the time to consider egg donation. It is truly the most selfless decision to help someone who cannot conceive naturally a chance to have their own family. You are helping people in a way that is beyond kindness.

When you are not supporting our donors, what do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I like to bake and decorate cakes with the help of my little black cat, Salem. I like to keep fit too and going to the gym is a big part of my life which helps burn off all the cakes I make!

Meet the rest of the donation team here.
